    Kansas Children's Service League's eLearning program is providing online professional development courses for a variety of professionals including child care providers, social workers, home visitors, foster and adoptive parents, nurses, educators, and head start employees who desire to increase their effectiveness in serving families and children. Kansas Children’s Service League is committed to bringing the best in continuing education to adult learners around the state – anytime, anywhere, at any stage in life.

    eLearning courses offer unlimited geographic access and are designed to provide continuing education credit hours as well as meet professional licensing requirements. Courses developed are interactive, high-quality offerings with online instructors who are available to guide participants through the completion of the course requirements. Adult learning styles are met through audio, video, graphics and written text in each course. Students are required to respond to discussion questions online and interact with others enrolled in the class.

Summer Professional Development Days Opportunities
by eLearning Admin - Wednesday, May 26, 2010, 04:02 PM

SRS in partnership with Child Care Providers Together (CCPT) has established the State Provider Cooperation Committee (SPCC) and are working together on the establishment of the Health and Safety Promotional Fund.

The Health and Safety Fund activities for the state include:

  • A Series of Professional Development Days for Child Care Provides across the state;
  • Facility Upgrade and Equipment/Materials Provider Grants; and
  • A Peer Mentoring Pilot Program.

Professional Development Days

Currently the SPCC is contacting community colleges and universities across the state to partner with for administration of Professional Development Day Activities. These Professional Development Days will have a focus on Health and Safety Training issues for child care providers. Each day will include a session on Approved First Aid; Certified Infant/Pediatric CPR; and Sudden Infant Death Syndrome and Safe Sleep Practices. A session on KDHE Rules and Regulations will also be offered on each of these days. There will also be an opportunity to learn about enrolling as an SRS provider.

Also as part of the day, lunch will be served with a 30 minute (welcome) presentation by the partnering agencies. These partners include University or Community College Staff; CCPT; KDHE; and SRS.

The following tentative dates have been scheduled. The Professional Development Day Coordinator is Alex Townsend (townsend@afscmecouncil72.org).
