Creating Positive Settings for Children and Families, 9/10/08 - 9/30/08

This course requires an enrollment keyTargeted Audience: Early Care and Education Professionals. Participants in this training will understand how children's "mental health" is affected by life events, culture, environment, biology, and relationships and that these aspects serve as roads to understanding and wellness. Participants will also learn how to create safe and nurturing learning environments by understanding the impact that room arrangements, labeling, and comfortable settings have on children and caregivers. Finally, participants will learn strategies for working with families to create a healthy atmosphere for children by using a method of knowing, informing, discussing with, and supporting families, tying everything together to create positive settings for children and families in child care. This course is instructor-led and interactive through discussions and assignments in course discussion boards.
Note: This course is approved by KDHE for 15.0 hours of inservice, by KACCRRA for 1.5 hours of early childhood CEUs, and by a variety of colleges for 1.0 hours of undergraduate and graduate credit.
Cost: $25.00 for inservice hours, $50.00 for college credit or CEU credit
